Sometimes we gather on Thursday nights at 6:25PM at other locations like McKinley Park … oh wait the location isn’t somewhere new … we did that before when 9RUN6 all started back in 2014 …
6:25PM rolled around and BOOM, there was the group, rocking bright colors and blinking lights as we went on a approx 4 mile run around and through East Sacramento. The goal for the evening was a nice easy social run through the area known as the Fab-40s. We focused on the 40th streets between J Street and Folsom Blvd.
Here the lights for Christmas were amazing! We shared some laughs, enjoyed some lights and got fit doing it!
Come join us on our regular days of Wednesday and Friday at 6:25AM on the West Steps of the Capitol.
Damn this group just keeps getting better. At 5:30a we were rolling 8 deep, at 6a 10 deep and kept it steady from there. That’s something special when there are 10 people willing to hang out in 30-something degree weather that early in the morning.
It was balls to the walls for our 6:25a workout at the West Steps of the Cap. The static was flowing and reps were doubled on each ping pong ball. Trash talking ensued as did the random f-bomb, providing the only source of proof when some poor sap pulled burpees. Either way the liquid awesome was flowing.
Speaking of which, a huge thanks to our friends @Nuun for providing us tons of great product to hand out @9Run6 each Wed and Fri. Today, after being a regular at our 6:25a workouts, Papa @FitFam6 was rewarded for the way he has stepped up and become a regular at the 6a portion of @9Run6. This Nuun is for you David!

Fab 40s, Sacramento (95819): From 40th to 49th between H Street and Folsom Boulevard, a majority of the majestic homes of this East Sacramento neighborhood are ablaze with lights. Residents of some streets (such as 42nd-45th) coordinate with lights strung across the street or shrubberies with similar motifs. White lighting seems to predominate, but plenty of color is still to be found. Traffic gets heavy with private cars, minivans, horse-drawn wagons and, this year, multi-person party bikes. Many revelers park to walk the neighborhood.

We meet up every Wednesday and Friday with groups starting at 5:30, 6:00 and 6:25 … some people stay for all three others come for some or even add on beyond after people have already given their high-fives and made their ways to start their work day.
Today was no different. The first group met at 5:30AM at the corner of 10th & N Street, logging in some miles along the Waterfront then down R Street, taking a look at the fliers scattering the ground left over from last night’s Snoop Dogg show.
After 30 minutes the group then returned back to the 10th & N Street corner to pick up the 6AM runners. This group made it out to check out the rail yards then off to check out the Golden 1 Arena. With about 2 miles in the bank for this group it was time to head back to the West Steps for the 6:25AM workout.
the new Golden 1 Arena
Today’s workout on the West Steps was the good old 100 workout (100 push-ups, 100 leg lefts and 100 squats) followed with 10 laps around the Christmas tree lawn area.
getting those 10 laps in around the tree
The next few weeks we will be awarding some awesome Nuun Hydration goodies to individual members, as well as providing everyone with some daily dose of hydration samples until we run out.
the daily sweat award went to Brad
Even with FREE workouts, we still find ways to get a pay day through compliments of how much people enjoy the group … here is one from our newest member …
This morning was rad. At 5:30a we were rolling 6 deep as opposed to 3 or 4 deep and by the time 6a rolled around we were really deep. Listen, all we want to do is spread fun free fitness to all throughout this holiday season.
This was the first workout after 6 of us were involved ithe CIM, 3 of us completing the full marathon. We threw down almost 6 miles and doubled up on the reps with our cassic #PinPong routine. #Yup
Like always we enjoyed ourselves this morning and look forward to hopefully some new faces on Friday. Remember to spread the joy of fun free fitness to all the m’fers out there. We’re at the Capitol every Wed and Friday. #9Run6

Do all those cozy holiday gatherings make you sweat? Run for the chill of it! Join Fleet Feet Sports of Sacramento for the 9th annual Holiday Classic Fun Run. The race is FREE. It’s our gift to the running community. The race began as a lighthearted reason to gather for a run during the holiday season and has developed into a toy drive for the Salvation Army. This year the Salvation Army can use the support of the running community and the community at large in these tough economic times. Our goal is to fill a Salvation Army truck with your donations.
With the California International Marathon coming this Sunday, a number of our members are partaking in the relay or full marathon so today was somewhat awesome … actually everyday is awesome.
The 5:30AM group took off on a short run which ran the last 1.5 miles of the course before finishing at the Capital to pick up the 6:00AM group. That group did the normal run out to the Tower Bridge.
At 6:25AM it was all about paper, rock, scissors for the workout … If you won in the heads up competition you did 10 push ups, sit ups and squats … if you lost then you had to do 15 … lose twice in a row it added 5 reps to each … lose 3 times in a row then it went to 20 … you get the picture.
Good luck to everyone partaking in the marathon weekend and thank you to everyone that will be part of the weekend as a volunteer or cheering along the course.
Don’t forget tomorrow we crash the CIM Health and Fitness Expo at 12:00PM for the Tweet Up… here is the info …
The title of this one doesn’t make any sense, but what was originally going to be the subject matter for this post has been pushed until tomorrow. That’s because we welcomed a new member to the crew yesterday; Courtney, fresh from Las Vegas.
Other than Courtney, it was Business as Usual Wednesday. The deck of cards made an appearance, each of us drawing a card 10 times to complete the set of reps per the face value of the cards. Brad, as usual, drew the best hand and pull 3 cards for the bonus round.
Oh, and we got a preview of the Christmas Tree lighting at the West Steps!
So today it was F’ing cold out for the 5:30AM, 6:00AM and 6:25AM groups at 9RUN6 … It actually never warmed up for the group. Nonetheless, the hard cores made out and got their workout on, on this fine Black Friday. You can say we were part of the #OptOutside movement for today.
The excuses started coming in on Thanksgiving evening as Alexia sent myself and Run BMC a text message saying she wouldn’t make it … Then at 5:32AM I sent Kevin a text, asking him where he as and if he was going to make it … mind you he only lives about 10 minutes away by car. He said the following …
Alexia providing her out for Friday morningAlexia providing her out for Friday morning
Without Alexia being there we figured out that our resident ogre aka Ethan wasn’t going to make it either. I honestly think that Alexia locks him up in some sort of cage when she cannot make it to a morning workout. There is a pattern of him not showing up when she isn’t there.
So with Katie making it out for the 6:00AM group along with BMC and I, we started to make our way out to the Tower Bridge where the group typically picks up McRuner … and to our surprise he wasn’t there either … WTF is going on here?!?!?!
At 6:25AM the group started the west steps workout and we saw miniature creature running around with a headlamp… come to find out it was 1/6th of the FitFam6 group … also known as David.
The workout for the morning was 100’s which involves 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 step-ups and 100 squats … the key to this workout is once you start an exercise you have to finish it before moving onto the next one. The brave and badasses for this morning knocked out the workout as the sun came up and it was time to start the rest of the day.
Throughout the day, we will be trolling social media sites to see who found a way to get up and go shopping but didn’t have the balls to get up and workout this morning … there will be various postings throughout the day giving these people delightful shout outs on the blog …
Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving … now don’t forget to get your Winter Challenge Day 2 taken care of at some point today!
